If you manage information returns like T3 (trust income), T4 (remuneration), T4A (pension and other income), or T5 (investment income), here are some important updates you need to be aware of:
π¨ Encountering Issues?
Are you having trouble filing your information return or questions about capital gains (losses)? The CRA has issued additional guidance to help you:
Relief for Late-Filing Penalties: You have until March 7, 2025, to file information returns typically due by February 28, 2025.
π Capital Gains (Losses) Reporting
The CRA will maintain the tax slips and their XML specifications published in fall 2024. The instructions now reference the T1 Schedule 3 or T1 income tax return for capital dispositions in:
Period 1 (before June 25, 2024)
Period 2 (on or after June 25, 2024)

My Business Account (MyBA): Select a program account (BN15) (RP or RZ).
Represent a Client (RAC): Use the RAC Identifier (RepID).
Web Access Code (WAC): Only BN15, Trust, or non-resident (NR) account numbers are accepted.
Important Dates & Adjustments π
π‘ Adjustments for Trusts and Entities Changes in the capital gains inclusion rate require recalculations for specific tax slips. Penalty relief extended to March 17, 2025, excluding T3 slips.
π T3 Information Returns Penalty relief for late filings and arrears interest granted until May 1, 2025, for T3 Trust filers.
β οΈ Post-Relief Period Penalties Late returns filed after the relief period will incur penalties based on the original due date.
